Building an economically viable streaming channel from the Pacific means dealing with limited connectivity, high latency and global CDNs that sometimes perform poorly locally.
I led the product and the platform, from defining the need through to production, coordinating architecture, infrastructure and the delivery teams. I arbitrated the media pipeline, the caching strategy, adaptive streaming and origin resilience, to balance playback quality, availability, cost and operability.
The platform now carries the programming of a channel reaching around 47,100 daily viewers, or 20.4% penetration across the territory according to Médiamétrie in 2021, and absorbs the spikes of major live broadcasts, notably the Miss France ceremony.
